Since 1906, families have been asking for Schwebel's breads by name. We've grown into a company proud to serve customers in a wide and ever-expanding marketing area. We've kept ahead of the competition by staying on top of new trends in the marketplace. But we still put the same family pride into every product we bake and every customer we serve.
More than 118 years ago, Joseph and Dora Schwebel began baking bread in their kitchen and selling fresh loaves door to door to their neighbors in Youngstown, Ohio. Their belief was by building their customers' trust, they could also build a successful business.
Their instincts were right. Today, Schwebel Baking Company is one of the fastest growing independent, family-owned wholesale bakers in America, producing more than 200,000 packages of bread products at its two baking facilities and 20 distribution centers across Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York. Schwebel's services retail and foodservice customers, providing branded products under the Schwebel's, 'taliano, Millbrook, Country Hearth, Cinnabon, and Sun-Maid brand names.
Schwebel's success in an industry where competition and change are the norm lies in its commitment to continuing the traditional values that Dora and Joseph Schwebel established: quality, service that exceeds expectations, and innovation. Schwebel's product leadership comes from anticipating trends, developing strategies to meet consumer needs, and executing aggressive marketing plans and sales programs that maximize opportunities for its bread and bun product lines.
Throughout the past century, Schwebel's contributions to the baking industry have been recognized nationally; in many cases establishing benchmarks that have become the standards for excellence in product quality, bakery efficiency, packaging, advertising, and sales performance.
Schwebel's mandate for excellence has continued to present as a result of the Schwebel family's high standards and personal attention to every Schwebel product and customer account.
Schwebel's is dedicated to its leadership position by providing consumers with the freshest baked, best-tasting bread products on the market. As a result, Schwebel's is the market share leader in Cleveland, Youngstown and Columbus, Ohio, as well as Erie and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - a remarkable achievement for a regional company that competes daily with large, publicly-held national companies. This spirit extends to its employees by providing a stimulating work atmosphere including comprehensive benefits, training and incentive programs.
Currently, Schwebel's is completing major system-wide upgrades to its bakery operations, transportation fleet, distribution facilities, and information technology. Schwebel's is focused and poised to take advantage of the trends and opportunities in the 21st century.
